ABOUT
SARAH WINTHER
My jewellery emerges in the encounter between traditional gold-smithing and sculptural jewellery art. I am an impatient perfectionist and it is in this slightly complex meeting that I’ve found my expression.
My work originates from a fascination with powerful shapes. I am drawn to the raw surface structures and delicate details that are found in the span between nature’s massive cliff walls and the tiniest crystal formations. With the body as a focal point, I translate these details into jewellery, balancing the raw with the delicate.
The craft swept me of my feet early in life and I started making jewellery as a hobby in 2002. I founded my company in 2011 while I was studying the introduction course for gold-smithing in Copenhagen.
In 2012 I was accepted at the art academy Konstfack in Stockholm, where I studied jewellery and corpus art. At Konstfack I was challenged to explore techniques and materials in new ways and I started using this newfound curiosity to develop my style of jewellery. I graduated in 2016 and dedicated myself full-time to my business shortly after.
A sustainable and ethical production have always been part of my core values. As I’ve grown my business I have continually sought ways to improve on this. You can read more about this under ‘Sustainability’.
Creating a bespoke piece of jewellery that tells a story and becomes a treasured part of someone’s life is one of the things I love most about my work. I have always wanted to have a nice space to sit down with customers to explore their unique design wishes, and this led to the opening of Studio 130 in June 2019. I share this combined shop and studio with another self-employed jeweller, Stine Vesten.
You are always more than welcome to drop by our little shop within opening hours. If you wish to have a bespoke piece of jewellery made, I would recommend that you get in touch beforehand and set up a meeting, to make sure I’m available when you come by.
